Andrew provides 5 string bluegrass banjo, Irish tenor banjo, mandolin and guitar lessons designed to suit your abilities and interests. Teaching is ‘by ear’ and/or from sheet music or tablature and music reading skills can also be taught at the same time. He supports learning by providing recordings of tunes being learned on CD and sheet music or tablature to take home when appropriate.
Having learned to play later in life, Andrew understands both how much fun playing an instrument can be, and how challenging – so he will make it as easy as he can for you.
Andrew’s Youtube Channel has videos with close ups, slow playing, tips, techniques and demonstrations of many of the tunes taught to supplement the lessons – and to help you remember lesson content when you get home!
Lessons are usually an hour long and they can take place at your home, at our place near Edinbane or some other convenient location on Skye. Charges are £30 per lesson. For the very young, he offers shorter lessons at a reduced rate. Charges include all extra materials (recordings and sheet music).
